Even though A Summer Romance i s filmed in various locations in Canada, including Vancouver, the movie setting is Bighorn, Montana, which really is a county in Montana with a population of roughly 12,865.   In other words, it's not every day that a local is likely to bump into someone as gorgeous as Richard Belmont (Paevey).   Even though Richard is in town to convince Sam to sell him her ranch, he ends up falling in love with the land and her.  He tries to make a move on Sam several times, which we know will go nowhere since the proverbial kiss must wait until the final scene, but Sam's self-control is impressive.  She resists him until the very end. You might remember Morgan Kohan for her role as Lillian Walsh in When Hope Calls.  Hallmark builds Kohan a bridge to the summer release,  Love on Harbor Island,  by naming her character Lily Summers .  Nice touch, Hallmark.  You made a thumbprint. Lily is a talented interior designer who produces impressive results, but when she interviews within her company for a better position, her boss tells her they will "circle back" to the possibility at a later time.  As it stands, Lily's designs lack her "essence" and her "thumbprint," so her boss advises her to find what inspires her. Image:  Crown Media Music Lyric Sets the Stage Not only is  Cowboy Rides Away  an awesome song actually played and sung by Jesse Metcalfe, but one line from it sums up the entire movie: Sometimes the cowboy rides away.  Sometimes he rides back home to stay. It's not like we haven't seen this in past Hallmark movies.  The main character is a huge success in his or her respective field, but the small town they couldn't wait to leave ends up being their ultimate source of inspiration.  Home is safe, authentic, and restorative.   Knowing Hallmark's plot formula, you already anticipate Bradley Sutton will never leave Milltown once he rediscovers his roots, but the lyrics from Cowboy Rides Away  alleviates any concerns.        Metcalfe only had 12-13 days of pr

It seems only recently that Christopher Russell has risen to stardom on Hallmark Channel.  Despite being in films like Midnight Masquerade, Merry Matrimony, and Love Unleashed, his popularity skyrocketed after his most recent releases:  The Mistletoe Secret , Nature of Love , and Love in the Forecast . Interestingly, Hallmark's last two movies cast Russell as a nature lover.  In Nature of Love , he's a rugged outdoorsman and tour guide, and in Love in the Forecast , he's a dairy farmer who relies on nature to predict the weather rather than meteorologists.   If you're a fan of Russell's, I'm sure you'll agree it doesn't matter what role he plays as long as we get to see that gorgeous face as often as pos

Before watching the movie, I assumed "the story of us" was about how the two leads met.  Though both Jamie Vaughn and Sawyer O'Dell were former sweethearts, "the story of us" is a collection of Valentines True Love Bookstore & Cafe has accumulated through the years from couples who wrote to share how they met and fell in love in the bookstore. I have two issues with this premise:  How did no one discover this honking box of letters until now?  Routine cleaning should have uncovered it long ago.   Do enough people fall in love in bookstores to fill a box with testimonials? Sure, some bookstores offer snacks and beverages, but most people assume a library voice and postu
